Advantages of the Bimetallic Thermometer

The bimetal thermometers is a type of thermometer widely used in the industry. Reliability this types of thermometer offers the ability to withstand vibration, high temperature fluid and corrosion with the use of stainless steel.

Often used in industry, facilities, machines, warehouses. Among them, it stands out in the petrochemical, pharmaceutical and food areas, among others.

 Calibration of a Bimetallic Thermometer

You should consider periodically calibrating the thermometers for the readings to be accurate.

Also when you want to use for a fully inverted temperature. For example, if it was used for positive temperature and you want to use it at negative temperature.

There are two methodologies used to calibrate this type of thermometer; The point of Ice and point of Boil .

In both cases you must use an insulating container on its walls.

The point of Ice is to use the ice in the container by adding cold water. Prevent the tip of the thermometer from interacting with the walls and bottom of the container.

The objective is to wait for the needle to finish moving, for when this happens we must register and adjust the thermometer in the adjustment screw.

Similarly with the boil point method. We need to submerge the tip when the water is boiling, wait for the needle to stabilize and record the data by adjusting the screw on the back of the thermometer.

 How does it work

The needle is connected to a transmitter, and this with a sensitive spiral that is welded to the base of a tube that interacts with the medium to be measured.

When the spiral receives the temperature, it expands according to the temperature. He transmits it to the needle thanks to the procedures and with this we see it reflected in the box.

 Advantage

Features may vary and there will be different designs. Then consider the following advantages as the attributions that this type of thermometer has.

 Withstands high temperatures

There is a Bimetal Thermometer that can withstand temperatures above 500 ° C.

They also withstand temperatures below zero degrees Celsius.

Remember to refer to the technical specifications of the specific product to be purchased.

 Optimal in aggressive installations

The box is prepared for outdoor conditions.

This is hermetic to avoid the introduction of dust, water, dirt, oil, among other common conditions in the industry.

 Allows adjustment

Behind the case has an adjustment screw. This will allow us to recalibrate the bimetallic thermometer when required.

Mainly when our thermometer changes from hot to cold temperature or vice versa.
